How team games work
Make teams
Shuffle the room into 2 to 6 teams, or let players choose.
Suggest and lock in
Teammates suggest songs; the captain locks in the team’s pick.
Score the others
You only score other teams’ tracks. The Big Reveal crowns the winning team.
What you need
- Enough people for 2 to 6 teams. A game needs at least 3 players and takes up to 10, or 20 if the host has a lifetime tier.
- A phone for each player, so teammates can send suggestions to their captain.
- A TV everyone can see helps with a big group, but you can also play with phones only or on a video call.
- Someone in each team who’s happy to be captain. It’s the team’s first player unless they hand it over.
- Somewhere for each team to huddle. Suggestions stay private on your phones, but a bit of whispering is half the fun.
A team round, step by step
- In the lobby, the host chooses how many teams and how they’re made: “I’ll arrange”, “Shuffle” for random, even teams, or “Players choose”. With Players choose, teams must be within one player of each other to start.
- A card is dealt. Teammates search for tracks and send suggestions to their captain. Only your own team sees them.
- The captain locks in one track for the whole team.
- Each team’s track plays in turn. Everyone scores the other teams’ tracks in secret; you never score your own team.
- After the last round, the Big Reveal shows the team podium. Tied teams share the win, and each winning team gets a Winner’s Pick.
Tips
- Choose a captain who’s quick on their phone. The captain can hand over with “Make captain”, and so can the host.
- Give each team a name and a colour in the lobby. The host or the team’s own players can change them.
- Late arrivals are no problem: anyone without a team joins the smallest team when the game starts, and so does anyone who joins later.
- Switch on Preview mode so the TV plays every track and nobody has to juggle a speaker.
- Playing at Anything goes? On a Perform card the whole team gets up and performs together, so warn the shy ones.
- Share the job around. Between rounds the captain can hand over to a teammate, so everyone gets a turn at locking in.
Variations to try
A work social
Switch on Family mode in All settings to hide explicit tracks and use a stricter word filter, and pick “Shuffle” so people end up with someone new.
Teams on a video call
Team mode works on a call too. Each team suggests and locks in privately, while the previews play on every phone.
Add the pressure
A pick timer gives teams Relaxed (2 minutes), Nervy (1 minute) or Sweaty palms (30 seconds) to agree. Arguments must be quick.
Open ballots
Switch on “Open ballots after the game” and, at the end, everyone sees who gave what to whom. Players are told before they vote, so tactical 1s for a rival team get noticed.
Questions people ask
- How many per team?
- Any size; scores are balanced for team size.
- Good for work events?
- Yes: no app, quick to explain, and Family mode keeps it clean.

- Each player joins on a phone so they can suggest songs.
- How many teams can we have?
